Auditioning for Axiom's Season 10

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Axiom Repertory Theatre's Season 10! We call our annual auditions The Generals because one audition gives you the opportunity to be considered for every production in our upcoming season.

Whether you're a seasoned performer or stepping onto the stage for the very first time, everyone is welcome. We are always excited to meet new talent and welcome returning Company members alike.

The Audition Process

  • Sign up for one audition slot on one day only.

  • All Season 10 directors and creative staff will be present, so one audition is all that's required to be considered for every show.

  • Callbacks, if needed, are at the individual director's discretion and will typically be held on Sunday evening, though some may occur earlier during the audition weekend.

What to Prepare

New to Axiom?

Please prepare two contrasting monologues, each no longer than 90 seconds. You'll perform your strongest piece, and the creative team may request the second if they'd like to see more.

Returning Axiom Performers

If you've previously appeared in an Axiom production, a monologue is not required.

Musical Auditions

Anyone wishing to be considered for a musical—whether you're new or a returning Company member—should prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song of your choice.

Everyone auditioning for a musical will also participate in a brief dance or movement combination during auditions, so please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that allow you to move.

If You're Cast

If offered a role, you'll receive your scripts and production materials months before rehearsals begin. Axiom has a unique rehearsal philosophy that allows us to spend rehearsal time creating instead of memorizing.

All cast members are expected to:

  • Attend the Company Gathering on Saturday, August 29, from 1:00–4:00 PM (location to be announced), where you'll meet your director, receive scripts, and learn everything you need to know about the season.

  • Attend all rehearsals to which you are called.

  • Attend all scheduled performances.

  • Have all lines and lyrics completely memorized by the first day of rehearsal. Because scripts are distributed well in advance, memorization is an essential part of Axiom's rehearsal process. Failure to meet this expectation may result in recasting.

If you're unable to attend the Company Gathering or commit to your rehearsal and performance schedule, we kindly ask that you consider auditioning for a future season that better fits your availability.

Rehearsal Schedule

Most productions rehearse Monday through Thursday from 6:00–9:00 PM.

Exceptions:

  • Sherlock Holmes: 6:00–10:30 PM

  • Chicago: Schedule varies (details will be provided to those cast).

All productions also include a mandatory Technical Weekend immediately before opening:

  • Saturday: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM

  • Sunday: Noon–6:00 PM

At Axiom, we believe the work begins at home—but you're never alone. Our directors and creative teams are committed to helping every performer grow, discover their character, and create exceptional theatre together.

We encourage you to come prepared, do your best, and then simply enjoy the experience. We can't wait to see what you bring to the stage.
